What Families Need to Know About Assistive Technology

March 4 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST

Assistive technology is not just an iPad! Assistive technology is any technology used by individuals with disabilities who may otherwise not be able to or would not be able to perform a task as well without the technology. Assistive technology includes both the devices (communication devices, apps, extensions, hardware, software, mobility devices) and the services provided to access and implement the devices.

Join us for an introduction to assistive technology, understand its importance for your student, find out how they can access it, and learn about resources that can guide you through the process.

Presenter Geoffrey Weber is the Assistive Technology Coordinator for Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) at George Mason University. He has been in special education for 15 years and is passionate about helping students to become more independent with the use of assistive technology.
