Virginia Home for Boys and Girls has a group care program for adolescents ages 11-17 and an independent living program for young adults ages 17-21 who are aging out of traditional foster care. Teaching-Family Homes can house up to eight children. Teaching-Families prepare their meals in their kitchen and eat at their own dining table. Children can study in their rooms, play games and socialize family rooms and learn to interact appropriately in a family setting. Youth learn to develop skills associated with frustration tolerance, anger and or aggression management, healthy decision-making, conflict resolution and age-appropriate living.
