Shineforth (formerly UMFS) offer community respite which is designed to provide temporary relief to the caretakers and to protect the health, safety and welfare of a child on a short-term basis. Community Respite care will be offered as needed for the provision of temporary respite to primary caregivers for children who are not in full or partial custody of the Department of Social Services (DSS) with the potential aims of reducing family stress, preventing abuse and neglect, and/or supporting family stability.
