Description:
Northern Virginia Family Service merged with Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) of Northern Virginia to promote the well-being of children, improve parent-child relations, and prevent child abuse and neglect by educating the community about the scope, nature and consequences of child abuse and neglect, and the importance of positive, nurturing parenting. It provides direct parent education and advocates for children in the community and the courts. Programs include parenting classes, support groups, prevention tools, and child advocacy including the Alexandria/Arlington Court Appointed Special Advocate Program (CASA).
