Project Lifesaver

Project Lifesaver

Description:
Project Lifesaver assists families and caregivers of individuals with autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, Alzheimer's disease and related conditions and disabilities. Project Lifesaver clients wear a wrist or ankle band that emits a silent tracking signal. When caregivers notify the Sheriff's Office that a loved one is missing, a search and rescue team comprised of specifically trained sheriff's deputies responds to the area with state-of-the-art tracking equipment. The program has a 100 percent track record of locating wandering adults and children and bringing them home. Without having to rely on site visits or paper files, deputies can electronically update client information, such as height and weight, a photograph, medical issues and favorite hiding places. Fee is $300 per year, but inability to pay does not prevent participation in the program.
