Poplar Springs has an acute inpatient program for adolescents ages 11-7 and a residential treatment program for adolescent girls ages 11-17. The adolescent acute inpatient program is designed to provide stabilization for adolescents in severe distress or exhibiting unsafe behavior. Poplar Springs Hospital provides structured, short-term inpatient care in an atmosphere of support and respect. Adolescents learn how to deal with their emotional and behavioral issues so they can quickly return home with better coping tools to deal with stress. The residential program treats girls who have experienced complex trauma/sexual trauma, borderline personality, and co-occurring/compulsive disorders. The program provides assessment and diagnostic services. The secure campus allows the opportunity for residents to walk daily to education classes, treatment groups and cafeteria-style dining. All residents attend the Learning Center, a private, 12-month school licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
