Our Children Fund

Description:
The Our Children Fund was created to provide financial assistance for "normalizing" items and experiences to children in the Fairfax County foster care system. The funds from the Our Children Fund are open to Foster Care children in Fairfax County between the ages of birth and 17 years and young adults between the ages of 18 and 21 if permanency (return home, relative placement, or adoption) is not achieved and addresses their otherwise unmet medical, social, emotional, and education needs. Examples of items that can be funded include afterschool activities, camps, and sports fees. Other items to be considered include dental and health services. To apply for a grant, a Foster Care parent should complete the online application on behalf of the foster care child. The need must be substantiated by a social worker/case worker, medical professional, or clergy member and the submitted application should be signed by both the foster care parent and the professional working with the child (as listed above). Once the request is approved, a check will be sent to the company that will provide the service.
