Open Hands Community Services is a Virginia DBHDS licensed Developmental Disabilities supportive in-home services agency for children and adults in the Northern Virginia area. Their mission is to promote independence, community involvement, and quality of life by providing effective, safe, caring, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate person-centered services to those with developmental disabilities. Open Hands provides personalized assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities in the comfort of their own homes. These services are designed to promote independence, enhance daily living skills, and support community integration. Supports include: - skill building and support for activities of daily living (ADLs and IADLs) e.g. mobility, hygiene, help with personal care, meal prep, medication management, household tasks -behavioral support for replacing challenging behaviors with positive, accepted behaviors for home and community environments -health monitoring -community integration to develop social skills, build confidence, and pursue meaningful activities outside the home -transportation to community sites
