Description:
The purpose of the Northern Virginia Resource Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons is to empower deaf and hard of hearing individuals and their families through education, advocacy and community involvement. There is an outreach program, sponsor an annual information fair called Celebrate Communication, offer ASL classes and workshops, and provide information on accessible cultural events in the region. NVRC has Accessible Meeting Rooms for workshops, planning meetings, organizational retreats, for groups ranging from 10-65 people and receptions up to 90 people. NVRC will be able to work with low-income individuals and other non-profit organizations by providing low-cost interpreting and transliterating services. NVRC has an Assistive Technology Demonstration Center that gives individuals the opportunity for a hands-on experience to try out assisted equipment before purchasing it.
