Description:
National Federation of the Blind supports the community through education, direct support, and advocacy. There are several programs supporting the blind including assistive devices, braille certification, early childhood initiatives, research programs, legal program, scholarships and awards, career mentoring, blind parent mentoring, and summer programs. The scholarship program awards more than $120,000 annually to blind scholars in recognition of their achievements and professional aspirations. The National Federation of the Blind offer awards that honor individuals, organizations, and educators who are a positive force in the lives of blind people. The Association also sponsors several summer programs throughout the country focusing on learning braille, engineering, skill development, college preparation, and workplace readiness. They also host an annual conference that offers both an adult and youth track. There are affiliates throughout the country.
