Integrated Living Opportunities ILO

Description:
Integrated Living Opportunities (ILO) is a coalition of adult self-advocates with special needs and their families who work together to help children live independently in the community. ILO helps families facilitate networks of support for adults with developmental disabilities that include individuals who can remain connected to them for the rest of their lives, even after the parents are gone. ILO can provide skills inventory assessments, coaching, skill development, identification of services, employment opportunities, and social activities to prepare individuals for moving out of the family residence and engaging in the community. ILO also provides support with advocacy and identifying services to meet specific needs, but does not provide or fund staffing for an individual. ILO can facilitate the development of an ongoing, interactive plan for the individual and his/her family to maintain and develop independent living skills.
