Hope Family Village is a community in the planning stages that will offer community-based care for people who face mental health conditions and provide a loving and supportive community for caregivers. The community will be located in Williamsburg, VA. The initial community plan is to develop an inclusive village, where 25 caregiving families and their loved ones who endure serious mental illness, live on 25 acres. Hope Family Village will have a center, a Common House, to congregate, meet, cook and share meals, recreate, otherwise care and support one another. Three housing options are currently under consideration: A family home for 4-5 unrelated adults in recovery, each with their own bedroom and shared living, kitchen, and bathroom areas; 2-3 bedroom single family homes and 3 bedroom single family townhomes. Virginia Senate Floor approved a state owned property to be set aside for Hope Family Village in February 2018. Expected groundbreaking is May 2020 with the first family homes expected to be ready for occupancy in February 2021. The first Williamsburg Fairweather Lodge opened in July 2019 (the first lodge in Virginia).
