Lutheran Family Services of Virginia (LFSV) provide an array of community based services and supported employment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and help students with behavioral challenges. Supported living options for individuals with intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities who are 18 years or older include Family Care Homes and Group Home Living. Family Care homes offer a foster care setting where qualified families and individuals are carefully screened and licensed through LFSV to provide services in their home as contracted employees. LFSV also has group homes throughout Virginia. In both types of settings skill-building is provided to help individuals meet their medical, dietary, behavioral, personal care and daily living needs. The home of the individual with disabilities to become a licensed Family Care Home and allows a family member or relative to be the paid caregiver.
