Families First of Virginia's purpose is to provide services to all families involved with the foster child and to efficiently assess each branch of the “family system” to determine treatment needs, parenting capacities, reunification possibilities, and/or permanency plans that meet the child’s best interest. It is their philosophy that children heal wounds from trauma when they are in safe, stable committed homes where the parent is the catalyst for change. Services are available for youth, biological families, and foster families. Families First of Virginia also provides therapeutic foster care services to children under the age of 21 years old. Their programs are open to all children without regard to race, national origin, or sex. Children with handicapping conditions either physical or mental will be accepted when there is an appropriate foster home match that can adequately accommodate and provide for their needs.
