Description:
DBT Maryland offers Dialectical Behavior Therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. They tailor DBT services to each client’s unique challenges, beginning with a thorough understanding of clients' life goals. They help clients explore areas of their life that feel unmanageable or out of balance, whether that’s navigating emotional highs and lows, struggling with impulsive behaviors, or feeling disconnected from oneself or others. They help identify obstacles and create a personalized plan for overcoming them. Their approach includes teaching key DBT skills like emotion regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. These skills help clients cope with strong emotions, manage crises without making impulsive decisions, and interact with others in a healthy, balanced way. In addition to skills training, they incorporate strategies like exposure therapy, problem-solving, and thought restructuring to help clients reframe their thinking and respond to life’s challenges more effectively. Throughout this process, therapists provide non-judgmental support, meeting clients where they are and helping them progress toward their goals.
