Cohen, Dowd and Madsen are advocates who are focused on serving the needs of parents of special education students who attend public and private schools, and the needs of special education students educated in inclusive settings from elementary school through college. Cohen, Dowd, and Madsen will review educational history, assess educational progress, facilitate effective communication between school and home, suggest appropriate educational services, interpret available educational testing and test reports, discuss appropriate placement options, assist in preparing for the IEP program meeting and accompany parents to the meeting, and review IEP documents before signing. The advocates also provide academic coaching, tutoring services, and can help with the transition planning process.
