Northstar Career Academy is a career Technical Education Center for Central Virginia's alternative learners and students with disabilities. In Career Preparation Programs, students develop the skills necessary to search for and to attain employment. They also sponsor week-long summer sessions for students age 16-21. Students not enrolled at Northstar Academy must submit a copy of their current IEP to determine program eligibility. During summer sessions, students can experience different professions and see which ones are good fits, grow workplace social skills, learn professional skills through hands-on instruction in the classroom and at worksites, and work on transition goals as part of approved Extended School Year services.
