This month, we honor adoption and adoptive families! National Adoption Month is an initiative of the U.S. Children’s Bureau that seeks to increase national awareness of adoption issues, bring attention to the need for adoptive families for teens in the U.S. foster care system, and emphasize the value of youth engagement.
This year’s theme is Empowering Youth: Finding Points of Connection. Learn more about adoption and find resources HERE. Locally, adoptive families can access supports including counseling, case management and family activities, through the Northern Post Adoption Consortium funded by the Virginia Department of Social Services.
As always, Formed Families Forward offers adoptive families free consultations, resource navigation, training, peer support groups and resources.
