May is Foster Care Month

More than 5200 Virginia children and youth are in foster care as of April 2024. This year, National Foster Care month’s theme is Showing Up Matters and reminds us the critical value of authentic relationships. Learn more about National Foster Care month HERE.

Agencies and organizations around the region are hosting events and sharing foster care stories this month. Check out:

·     Arlington County’s next foster care information session is May 14, HERE.

·     Fairfax County Department of Family Services will host a foster care chat on May 11, among other activities, HERE.

·     Loudoun County has initiated a Foster Youth to Independence housing program for young adults with a history of foster care HERE.

·     We at FFF are hosted a virtual session on foster care in Virginia with an experienced foster mom and a local caseworker. Recording HERE.
