SUMMARY:Stronger Together Youth and Young Adult Peer Support Groups (in-person)
DESCRIPTION:Our Fall 2025 Stronger Together support group for youth and young adults will meet IN PERSON in Fairfax City for weekly sessions starting on Tuesdays\, September 23 from 6 – 7:30 PM. \nThe group emphasizes positive peer supports as a context for strengths-based growth. Participants will explore who they are\, who they seek to be\, and navigate the current culture and environment. Using creative and supportive activities\, the group will focus on development of specific positive social skills such as choosing healthy relationships and safe self-expression. \nThe youth and young adult Stronger Together support group is designed for teens and young adults age 14-22 who have lived experiences in one or more service systems such as: \n\nSocial services (foster care\, child welfare\, family services)\nSpecial education (learning or emotional disability or other condition)\nMental health services\nSubstance use treatment/recovery\n\nGroup meetings are facilitated by a mental health professional and a young adult peer co-facilitator. \nA light dinner is served each evening. Regular weekly attendance is expected. \n
