Instilling Hope: A Brain Based Approach to Understanding FASDs and other Neurobehavioral Conditions

January 6, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST

The first of our FASD Winter Webinar series. See EVENTS calendar for more!

This information session is designed to provide a foundation for understanding fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs) and other neurobehavioral conditions with the FASCETS FA/NB model. There will be a discussion of primary and secondary characteristics and why they are important, and an introduction of some starter strategies to reduce stress and increase accommodations for your individual impacted by FASD. The intent is to provide a common language for parents, families, and professionals and to begin to make person centered accommodations to instill hope and reduce anxiety and stress.

Presenter Melissa Elligson is a Certified Facilitator of the FASCETS Neurobehavioral Model and a FASCETS Program Director. She is also a community-based counselor with Intercept Health. She holds a master’s degree from Seton Hall University and has spent the past twenty years as an advocate, community counselor, and trainer. Her passion is working with children and families living with neurobehavioral conditions and providing training nationally. An interest in using nontraditional models brought her to Diane Malbin and her journey with FASCETS. Melissa is currently providing training, consultation, and family groups.
