Critical Decision Points for Families of Children with Special Needs, at PWCS
February 20 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm EST
Throughout your child’s school career, especially if your child requires an individualized education program (IEP) or has special needs, there are certain key decisions you will need to make along the way. In 2014 the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities (VBPD) identified specific challenges for families, and the timeframe in which they need to be addressed. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) then developed and implemented a parent training program to help guide families to what to be aware of and when. Formed Families Forward and Prince William County Public Schools Parent Resource Center are pleased to present this training for Prince William area parents and caregivers raising children and youth with special needs. Come learn more about IEPs vs. 504s, diploma options, and how to ensure your child is being prepared for life after school – from preschool on.
Hard copies of the VDOE Critical Decision Points guide will be distributed.
Light lunch is served but space is limited. Participants must register; contact Rhonda Tabor at the PRC at https://www.pwcs.edu/academics___programs/special_education/parent_resource_center
Co-sponsored by FFF and PWCS Parent Resource Center; held at the Parent Resource Center at the Kelly Leadership Center. Presented by Kelly Henderson, Ph.D. of FFF and Rhonda Tabor, M.Ed. of PWCS.
