Youth and young adults ages 14-22!
Parents and caregivers!
Formed Families Forward hosts Stronger Together peer-to-peer support groups.
We believe that youth and young adults really are stronger when they share their experiences and work together to improve their own lives and the systems that are supposed to help youth and families.
Our youth and young adult group is designed for teens and young adults who have lived experiences in one or more service systems such as:
- Social services (foster care, child welfare, family services)
- Special education (learning or emotional disability or other condition)
- Mental health services
- Substance use treatment/recovery
Parents, caregivers and guardians have their own group meeting at the same time in the same building.
Our 2016-17 groups meet twice monthly in Fairfax city. Groups generally meet two Tuesdays a month: October 4, 18; November 1, 15, 29; December 13, 2016; January 10, 24; February 7, 21; March 7, 21; April 4, 18; May 2, 16, 2017. Groups are facilitated by professional clinicians. A small fee of $3 per participating family is collected at each session. To encourage regular attendance, all fees are returned to those families who participate in the groups through May 2016.
We thank YouthMOVE Virginia and Fairfax County’s System of Care for their support.
Groups are open enrollment; new participants can join us anytime through the year. Let us know if you are interested in the 2016-2017 Stronger Together youth/young adult and parent/caregiver groups; please complete the form below. We will be in touch with consent forms and information about group meeting logistics.
